Upstreams is a listing board. Businesses post material they would otherwise throw out, and people who can use it get in touch. We make introductions — that is the whole service.
We are not a party to anything that happens next.We do not own, handle, store, transport, inspect, or test any material listed here. We do not take a fee and we do not act as anyone’s agent. Any arrangement about a waste stream — what it is, what condition it is in, who picks it up and when, and who is responsible if something goes wrong — is strictly between the business and the person collecting it.
Listings are written by the businesses that post them. We do not verify their accuracy and we make no promises about what any material actually is or what it is fit for.
Material listed here is not represented as safe for human consumption, animal feed, soil amendment, or any other use unless you have verified that yourself with the business. Spent grain, produce, coffee grounds and similar organics spoil, may have been stored in ways you cannot see, and may contain allergens or contaminants. Sawdust and offcuts may be from treated, finished, or engineered wood. If you are going to eat it, feed it to an animal, grow food in it, or sell something made from it, inspect it, ask questions, and satisfy yourself that it is suitable. You collect and use material at your own risk.
You are responsible for complying with any rules that apply to you — municipal, Manitoba, or federal — including food safety, animal feed, composting, waste handling, and transport requirements.

We can edit, decline, or remove any listing for any reason, and we retire listings that go stale.
Arrange pickup directly with the business and respect their site, their hours, and their staff. Take what you agreed to take. Don’t use contact details from this site for marketing.
Upstreams is free and provided as-is. We do not promise it will be available, uninterrupted, accurate, or that any listing will still be there when you arrive. We may change or discontinue it at any time.
To the fullest extent the law allows, Upstreams and its operator are not liable for any loss, injury, illness, property damage, spoiled product, regulatory penalty, lost profit, or other damage arising from material listed or obtained through this site, from anything a user says or does, or from your use of or inability to use the service. Our total liability for any claim is limited to CAD $100.
Nothing here limits liability that cannot be limited under Manitoba or Canadian law.
If someone brings a claim against us because of material you listed, material you collected, or your use of the site, you agree to cover our reasonable costs of dealing with it.
You keep ownership of what you submit, and you give us permission to publish and display it on the site and in related material. Everything else on Upstreams — the name, the design, the code — belongs to us.
These terms are governed by the laws of Manitoba and the federal laws of Canada that apply there, and the courts of Manitoba have jurisdiction.
We may update these terms; the date at the top will change. Continuing to use the site means you accept the current version.
